Qualifications: BA (English); GradDipEd; PGradDip(English); MA; PhD (Curtin)

Brian Moon began his teaching career in Western Australian secondary schools, where he taught English across years 8 to 12. He was seconded by invitation to the WA College of Advanced Education as a curriculum lecturer, after which he undertook Masters degree and PhD studies at Perth's Curtin University.

Brian was a part-time lecturer in Curtin's School of Communications and Cultural Studies before taking up a position in English curriculum studies at Edith Cowan University, where he is now an Associate Professor in the School of Education.

Brian has served as an English Examiner for the Secondary Education Authority of Western Australia, and has been a consultant on written communications to various state government departments.

In addition to his work in English curriculum and pedagogy, Brian's academic interests include literary and cultural theory; reading practices; schooling and governmentality; and the semiotics of film and television.

His most recent work has focussed on the teaching of writing in secondary schools.
